Dolce and Gabbana have launched their first line of fragrances call The Velvet Collection. It’s a collection of 6 perfumes all inspired by different parts of Italy. The collection is available at Saks Fifth Avenue and retails for $195 for a 50ml bottle.

Pietro Beccari to Become Fendi CEO

LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy), the world’s largest luxury group has announced that Pietro Beccari will become CEO of Fendi.

Beccari is the chairman of Berluti, a LVMH owned luxury shoe brand.

Michael Burke is the outgoing CEO of Fendi and will be leaving to become CEO of jeweller Bulgari. Pietro Beccari’s replacement at Louis Vuitton as executive vice president, marketing and communications will be announced at a later date.

LVMH’s shares have been down 7% so far in 2011 and are looking to get a boost from increased holiday shopping this year.

Lenovo introduces it’s newest line of ultrabooks with the IdeaPad U300s. The fully loaded model comes with a 1.7GHz Core i7 CPU, 4GB of RAM and a speedy 256GB SSD hard drive. It’s priced at about $1500, which is only slightly cheaper than the high-end Macbook Air.

The IdeaPad is a sleek and sexy Windows-based alternative to Apple’s ultra slim laptops. Although one drawback is that the screen lacks a bit of brightness. The other downside is that the clickpad is a bit clunky.

All in all, I think it’s a great Windows ultrabook style notebook with tons of style and power. Plus it’s alot less expensive than comparable Sony models.

Nike Free Run +2

Barefoot running is the biggest trend in the running world. Studies of barefoot African long distance runners have shown that they can run longer and are less injury prone by shedding running shoes alltogether. While most doctors don’t recommend that we hit the pavement barefoot for our morning runs, there is a fair amount of benefit to reducing the amount of heel padding normally associated with traditional running shoes.

Nike’s Free line aims to get you as close to that barefoot running feel without getting your feet dirty by providing a decent amount of protection against the ocaisonal rusty nail and stray dog poop. These running shoes feel great and feel so much lighter than your old school, heavy sole sneakers.

With it’s newest encarnation, Free Run +2, Nike improved the upper construction and made it even more lightweight. Improved styling is a plus, allowing you to look while great wearing something you almost forgot you had on.

Have you ever found yourself at a loss for words while staring into space while the room begins to circle around your head like some kind of freak show carousel? Well, I have, simply muttering whatever nonsensical gibberish that happened to cross my inebriated mind at the moment. But those days are over now that I’ve found Steven Kates’ “The Quotable Drunkard”.

Now I can (in my trademark drunken slur) spit out interesting and crowd pleasing quotes by some of the most famous and infamous drunks in history.

Dolce and Gabbana The One Gentlemen Gift Set

I’m a big fan of Dolce and Gabbana suits and some of their other clothes for men. I’d never really tried any of their fragrances but when I came across “The One” I found it really appealing. Best of all though, my wife loves how it smells on me.

The set includes a 3.3 ounce spray and 2.5 ounce after-shave balm along with a handsome travel bag. The scent is described as “A spicy, oriental fragrance developed on the harmony of tobacco with refined base notes such as cardamom, ginger, cedarwood and orange blossom”.

It’s a manly scent with just enough sugar to attract the honies, if you know what I mean
